Fall friendly things to do in the Port Washington Neighbourhood

Don't forget to enjoy some Pender institutions in the Port Washington neighbourhood.

Port Washington, a historic Pender neighbourhood.

The Port Washington neighbourhood is just up the street from Hope Bay and not more than a 15-20 minute walk from the community hall. On weekends there is still much to do including the winter market at the community hall, a downsized version of the summer market hosted inside of the hall with a great selection of makers and bakers. The community hall also hosts a hot soup lunch on Friday's with live music from some of Pender's wonderfully talented musicians. Check https://penderislands.org (opens in a new tab) for more details.

If you walk back towards Port Washington you'll go right past the Nu to You, our island thrift store. The place is laden with treasures, it's certainly worth your time to walk the isles. Next door to the NU to You is the Pender island Library. The hours are listed right here https://sgicl.bc.libraries.coop/ (opens in a new tab) The library is very fortunate to have a stellar selection of reading materials and such an inviting space.

Toddle down the hill and wind your way down to hope bay to witness some fun new innovations to the old historic location. In times past this was where to ferry came in! Now you can find some pretty great business like:

Pender Island conservancy

Pender Chocolates

Lorelei Seaside Eatery( home of the Cheesecake fridge!)

Studio B Hair Salon and Collective( great vintage clothing finds)

Vivi Coffee Roaster

Kim Pollard Fine Art Gallery

The Goldsmith Shop

and Hope Catcher Studio

This place has seen a recent resurgence with the addition of multiple businesses. It certainly is worth the visit.

Once you're finished there you can back track to Corbett rd to the location of Pender's first distillery. This charming island business ( Bee Wild Distillery) is run by a set of small business partners( Braeloch Farms and Pender Chocolates). Their flavours are exceptional and their location couldn't be better. The tasting room is open on Saturdays and Sundays 12:30-4:30.

That brings you right back to the Port Washington neighbourhood where you can enjoy a bucolic neighbourhood stroll. In the fall you'll unfortunately miss out on the Raven Rock Farms Market Store, but if you like the neighbourhood you can book a stay at their cozy BnB called "The Perch". A wonderful experience at a wonderful working farm.

And of course there is always Southridge Country Store. Come in and check out our unique selection of spices, candies, chips, treats and in house made meals.

See you in the Wash!
